This record was recorded up and down America's coasts, with brief stop overs in Marfa, TX and Germantown, NY. New Orleans was where I bought my copy of Herbie Hancock's 'Village Life' (at Euclid!) - in Long Island I recorded drums with Chris Bear; in Los Angeles I worked with Robyn, Kelela & Daniel Aged from Inc., New York with Dev, Miami with Jimmy Douglass. In short, I've lived many recent months making music in the States and I'd like to say thank you. I’ve previously described making a record like having a child. It’s hard, you’re often tired and emotional, but it’s so incredibly rewarding it’s worth every sacrifice. You also can’t pick favourites! But right now I love this new album to death, and I’m proud to share it with you.
To coincide with the release, Kindness last week shared an official music video "This Is Not About Us", collaboratively directed by himself and Daniel Brereton. Watch below, and find more information here.
In other exciting news - Kindness will be back in NYC next week, for his first East Coast show in support of the new album. Bainbridge, backed by a five-piece band, will be performing at The FADER Fort along with Willow Smith, Ryn Weaver, and more. The event is free, as is the beer, but be sure to RSVP.
