emusic’s Top 40 Acts to See at Bonnaroo — Sleigh Bells

June 8th 2011

When & Where: 10 p.m., The Other Tent
What They’re Like: Sleigh Bells make electro-rock that’s capable of pumping up dancefloors and pep rallies.
Why They Matter: Singer Alexis Krauss and guitarist/producer Derek Miller broke out at CMJ 2009 with a couple dynamic performances and just a few songs on their MySpace page. Their music is pure, raw energy: Krauss’s voice can switch from rowdy shouting to sweet singing within seconds, and Miller provides ravaged riffs (not far off from his metalcore past in Poison the Well) and pulsing electronic production. — Laura Leebove

Sleigh Bells’ Alexis Krauss Named #16 Woman Who Rocks

March 25th 2011

“In the video for ‘Tell ‘Em,’ Alexis Krauss takes to the streets brandishing a baseball bat, and in ‘Rill Rill,’ she finishes off her beau by shoving him out of a moving car. She’s basically a badass schoolgirl without a pigtail in sight. Could we love her any more?”
