It always makes us proud to see one of our own walk away with an award of any sort, like Ingrid and Metric yesterday in Grey’s Anatomy‘s fan poll. We get to celebrate again today, this time for Flume, taking away Best Live Act and Best Album during InTheMix’s 2013 Industry Awards. And don’t worry Jagwar Ma, we see you there, runner-up Breakthrough Artist. You’re no runner-up in our books.
Check out Flume’s full performance in London’s Boiler Room below.
After his remix of Disclosure’s “You & Me,” our favorite Aussie mix-master Flume seems to have enjoyed working his way around another artist’s sound and bleeding it into his signature own, this time going back a few decades to soul singer Marlena Shaw and her “Woman of the Ghetto.” The track is is available as part of the latest compilation from Verve Remixed, Verve Remixed: The First Ladies—an exploration of America’s favorite female vocalists of an era past. Check out Flume’s track below, and you can pick up a copy of the album here.
STOP WHATEVER YOU’RE DOING AND PAY ATTENTION:
Flume has offered up his official remix of Disclosure’s “You & Me” (ft. Eliza Doolittle), and the internet is feeling extremely overwhelmed by the whole ordeal. Head over to Soundcloud to hear the track in full, where you’ll find it labelled under ‘Orchestral Crunkwave’ (obviously).
On top of the Disclosure x Flume news, Flosstradamus have also taken to the internet to announce a collaboration with our favourite Australian producer. Grab a preview of what they have in store for you with this Insane Clown Posse-themed series of Vine posts (yep, you read that correctly).
Remember a few months ago we launched our monthly subscription service, Boombox? Well, since then our subscribers have been hand-delivered digital albums from FIDLAR, Wavves and Polica, have been offered exclusive access to singles from Polica, Beat Club, and Smith Westerns, and have received brand new digital EPs from Neon Indian and Kid Astray before any else has even had a look in… and Boombox is only just getting started.
We have a lot of exciting stuff up our sleeves for the rest of the year, and we wanted to give you guys a taster of everything we’ve been working on (because we feel selfish keeping it all to ourselves). Head over to our Soundcloud player to stream the first installment of what will be a semi-regular compilation series from Mom+Pop, this time featuring singles from Jagwar Ma, Polica, Flume, Neon Indian, Hunters, FIDLAR, Wavves, Kid Astray, Mikhael Paskalev, Beat Club, Animal Kingdom, Smith Westerns, Andrew Bird, and Lucius. Phew!
Head over to Earmilk right now to see the premiere of Flume’s brand new video for ‘On Top’ featuring Queens rapper T-Shirt. Or, y’know, you could just watch it below:

More phenomenal news! Today we can announce that 21-year-old Australian producer Flume is now part of the Mom+Pop family. We’re preparing the release of his self-titled debut LP — a soulful blend of lush beats, chopped vocals, saw synths and intricate percussion — for February 19th release. Get excited. In the meantime, you can stream a track from the album, which The FADER calls a “twinkling standout” (we’d agree), below. It’s called “Bring You Down” and features George Maple on vocals.
