The Polaris Music Prize is an annual award given to the best full-length Canadian album, as determined by, primarily, artistic merit, and then record sales of course. For 2013, we are finally close to learning the recipient with today’s release of the prize’s shortlist, featuring a number of talented musicians: Tegan and Sara, METZ, Purity Ring. But hey, we’re hedging our bets on our own Metric; no doubt you’ll be walking home with the 30k check over your shoulder this year.
Here’s the official nomination page.
In related news, the Polaris Prize have just opened their annual poster design competition for each of the shortlisted records… meaning, get out your colored pencils, computer-design programs and whatnot, and you could see your artwork featured at the competition, receive $200, and, naturally, a high level of respect from your artistic peers.
