Metric Unveil Video For “Breathing Underwater,” Announces Synthetica Deluxe

Today marks the release of Metric’s new video for Synthetica-standout “Breathing Underwater.” The clip, directed by Lauren Graham, is an amalgamation of the countless hours of footage (including the band’s raucous mainstage appearance at this year’s Lollapalooza) culled from  months of touring across the United States in support of Synthetica. The video was premiered earlier today via the band’s recently-launched Tumblr. And for the VH1 faithful among us, you may be seeing this clip a bit more frequently pretty soon, as the band was just named “Artist You Oughta Know” for the month of December!

In other exciting news, the band announced today the impending release of Synthetica Deluxe, an expanded version of their Fantasies follow-up, featuring acoustic renditions of three album tracks, alongside a version of fan-favorite, set-closer “Gimme Sympathy” and a devastatingly gorgeous cover of Tom Waits’ ” Strange Weather.” The bonus version of the album will be available digitally next Tuesday, November 20th, and will be followed by a physical release on December 4th. For the first taste of the deluxe tracks, check out the SoundCloud stream below, featuring the Synthetica Deluxe version of “Breathing Underwater,” alongside the official album version and its synth-driven Reflections rendition.
